How do I get work on a cruise line as retail or serving?
I want to get a job on a cruise line, but don’t know how to go about it! I’ve read that retail is better than crew because of more freedom and better areas, but how do I contact these people to even have a chance at it. also what are some good cruise lines to work for, how do they handle married couples who work together, anddddddd…..just any information that would help me get my foot in the door would be great!
Hi Jennifer,
Some cruise lines’ retail departments are concessions while others have their own in-house retail departments.
One of the biggest retail concessions in the cruise industry is Starboard Cruise Services: http://www.starboardcruise.com/ship-board.htm
Another one is Harding Brothers: http://www.hardingretail.co.uk/history.asp
They both offer their services to different cruise lines (Royal Caribbean, MSC, Costa, Holland America…)
Princess cruise lines have the retail department as part of their own cruise line: http://www.princess.com/employment/onboard_employment/information/onboard_opportunities/onboard_opportunities.html
Check out the links and find out about the applications process.
Hope it helps.
